Canon 870 is little but very impressive camera combined with classic design. Its half metal and half body with silver and chrome detail. You can also find gold version. Its little bit slimmer and tall as his little brother Canon 860 but its heavy for its size. Weight is cca 180g. The exact sizes are 93,8 x 56,8 x 23.6 mm.

Model Canon 870 Is have image sensor ½.3-inch CCD that means 10 MP effective. With this model you can take shots with maximum resolution 3648x2736 px. Canon 870 also offers another resolutions and it is for example 3648x2048, 2816x2112, 2272x1704 and smaller resolutions are 1600x1200 or 640x480px. Images are in JPEG formats, Wav or motion JPEGs and you can also choose from different compression it depends on your memory card and how many pictures you want to take. There are 3 image quality modes. You can choose from superfine, fine and normal. Canon 870 can also record videos in 320x240 resolution with 30 frames per second (fps). The audio is only mono and camera can made single video file or continuous video files. Movie length depends on card capacity. Canon 870 uses SD/SDHC cards. You get 32MB SD in the box but I think that is too small card for this type of digital camera. Camera also have 4x optical and 4x digital zoom. It’s the standard zoom for this type of digital camera. When we speak about zooming Canon 870 uses 35 mm optical focal length (4.6 - 17.3 mm) and have maximum lens aperture f/2,8 – f/5,8. The speed of taking picture is 15 – 1/1,600 seconds. Of course there is standard ISO ratings as Auto when you do not how to use IS standards. When you like to setup ISO manually you have ISO 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600. In the end we can say that Canon 870 is very attractive and great compact camera with very good performance and zoom range. Good LCD and super image quality.
